Mission Statement:

Our mission is to uplift the youth and disadvantaged - with a focus on first generation Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrants. We provide them with the tools and resources they need, so they too can uplift themselves and their surrounding communities. This is to build off the generous work of Theodros Belayneh, who lived and died in service of these arenas - for the glory of God.

Origin:

Teddy’s Outreach Foundation (TOF) is a memorial foundation in Theodros (Teddy) Belayneh’s name, that designs and funds sustainable outreach projects globally – particularly in Canada, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. On December 19, 2016, we became federally established as a non-profit organization through the Canada Revenue Agency. Then after CRA review, on January 1, 2019 we became established as a registered charity. Through the generosity of our friends and supporters, we fund, operate, and participate in a wide range of outreach projects.

Many of our projects originate from Teddy's many previous charitable activities, and his other planned charitable activities that he documented and left behind before passing away. From giving away nearly 100 large suitcases of clothing or school supplies to those in need, to being a constant empowering role model and support for those of all backgrounds, Theodros’s life of empowerment and generosity fuels the values and activities of TOF.

Through analysis of Teddy's pattern of giving and goals for his planned charity, we determined three key areas of interest (Youth Empowerment, Health and Wellness, and Outreach for homeless and elderly), with special attention to the Ethiopian and Eritrean youth both in Canada and their native countries. Values:

All of our actions are rooted in our three values:

Empowerment
All of our projects are developed to empower others and their communities so they have the tools and resources to uplift themselves and others. This is to increase the quality of life in those communities, while enriching the lives of our donors and volunteers.

Respect
We approach all of our projects with a sense of mutual respect and appreciation for our members and our surrounding community; by being open to and learning from one another, we do more good for more people.

Sustainability:
We design our programs with a thorough understanding of what works and is sustainably achievable in each community. Our goal is to eventually help community members to run their own programs without our direct support, with the exception of the elderly or incapacitated whose livelihood may depend on the endowment fund or individual sponsors of TOF’s members.
