We are honored to present the 2021 recipient of the Teddy Belayneh Memorial Scholarship: Michal (Ruth) Bereket!

We are thankful for the generosity of our supporters who have enabled us to double the monetary value of this year's award.

From her years of service to her community especially within her church leading small groups, to her passion for mental health including studying Psychology at the University of Alberta, she is a wonderful example to those around her. Read below to learn more about what drives her drive to uplift others.

We asked this year’s scholar "What is the impact you want to have on your community?

"After careful reflection, the impact I wish to make within my community is creating safe spaces where young adults and young teens feel safe enough to take about mental health issues and challenges without stigmatization. Leading with patience, love and faith allows me to create that space within my community. With this being said, I want to equip young individuals to embody their full potential and realize the uniqueness that God has instilled within."
